Swerving...

Could we have seen it coming? Well...WHO knows.

As you can appreciate amongst many of the other things our current situation is disrupting, the covid 19 pandemic has forced a bit of a rethink in arts & culture review shows on local community radio (a key priority nonetheless). And alas my current run of The New Curiosities Box will be on pause following the show which airs on the 31st March 2020 (so nearly a 40 show run). Also the regular Album Club sessions will also be on hold for the foreseeable.

And so, loathe to give up and desperate to respond in a positive way I find myself now forced to adopt a slightly different mode of creative communication.  My time in Birmingham to date has been marked by the generosity and vibrancy of its creative sector. The weird and the wonderful, the implausible and unpronounceable, the daring and broadly broadcastable. I've also had the support of a great number of volunteers in and around Switch Radio and the MAC, let alone those that work tirelessly to showcase the arts on a public platform from panto to avant guard jazz.

It's time to help out an give something back....

So from Tuesday April 7th 2020 I'm brewing up a new fortnightly show 'The Unseen Swerve'.

The agenda of the new show will be;
  • Local updates and calls to action from venues, clubs, projects and societies across the West Midlands.
  • Phone based features & interviews.
  • New content generated by Album Club volunteers.
  • An eclectic selection of music- from the very local to the dusty classics of my CD shelves.
  • Archive content from the KOTB vaults.
Where you come in?
  • Respond to polls and surveys on this blog related to upcoming content.
  • Suggest tracks, albums, ideas and features.
  • Contact me with updates & information, calls for action and stories on life experiences in the swerve.
